In our opinion this is the perfect first holiday to Morocco! We have been offering this triple centre trip for many years and continue to recommend it. Not only will you experience the wonders of Marrakech in one of our personally selected riads you also get to explore the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains in nearby Ouirgane and then round off the trip with a couple of days relaxing on the Atlantic coast. Included in the itinerary are door-to-door private transfers, a city tour of Marrakech and a guided day hike. Should all the relaxing become too exhausting, you can pre-book optional extras such as a cookery lesson, spa treatments, quad bike excursion and a camel ride.

Marrakech – Exotic Opulence and Cultural Riches Begin in Marrakech, a city that dazzles with colour, tradition and style. Stay in an elegant riad or luxury boutique hotel tucked away in the historic medina, where impeccable service and traditional Moroccan architecture set the tone for your stay. Spend your days exploring majestic palaces, hidden gardens and the vibrant souks with a private guide, or simply relax with a rooftop cocktail as the call to prayer echoes over the city. Optional experiences such as spa treatments in a traditional hammam or a fine dining evening under the stars can be arranged to suit your preferences.

Ouirgane – A Peaceful Mountain Retreat. Leave the city behind and travel into the High Atlas Mountains to the serene village of Ouirgane. Nestled among olive groves and dramatic red hillsides, this tranquil region offers a slower pace and a strong connection to Amazigh (Berber) culture. Your stay in a stylish mountain lodge or kasbah retreat includes panoramic views, fresh mountain air and warm hospitality. Enjoy a guided hike through Tassa Ouirgane National Park, traditional cooking experiences, or simply unwind by the pool surrounded by nature.

Essaouira – Relaxed Coastal Elegance. Conclude your journey in the laid-back coastal town of Essaouira, where white-washed buildings, sea breezes and artistic flair create a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Your accommodation in a chic riad or seafront hotel provides the perfect base to explore the town’s UNESCO-listed medina, browse galleries and artisan workshops, and dine on freshly caught seafood. Essaouira’s expansive beach and gentle climate make it ideal for strolls along the shore or simply soaking up the Atlantic light.

Important Information

City Tours include an English-speaking guide, all transport and entry fees to historic monuments (including the incredible Ben Youssef Medersa, Saadian Tombs & Bahia Palace); followed by an exploration of the souks and focal points of the medina, such as the iconic Djemma el Fna.

Day Hike in the Atlas Mountains will be a full day out (approx. 5-6 hours of walking) with a professional English-speaking guide and includes a picnic lunch or a warm tagine in the winter. A shorter route is available upon request.

Flights are available to book through us with a wide range of airlines, from various UK airports to Marrakech. If we book your flights this means that your holiday will also be fully ATOL protected.

Prices shown are a guideline "from" (in UK Pounds) and are based on a travelling party of at least 2 adults. Single supplements may need to be applied to the twin/double price and discounts for children (under 12yrs) and/or a 3rd adult sharing a room are available upon request. Quoted prices for individual enquiries will depend upon your chosen accommodation, room availability and dates of travel. We always aim to match a high quality experience with exceptional value for money. Discounts will apply if there are 3 or more people in your travelling party as fixed costs such as transportation and guides will be shared equally between the group.

MARRAKECH

Nestled on a large plain at the foot of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains and surrounded by its original fortified city walls Marrakech is the perfect city to begin your visit to Morocco. Today, Marrakech has become a thriving metropolis with chic night spots, top restaurants and a very modern atmosphere in places which only emphasises the immense historical context of the labyrinthine Medina, its palaces, gardens and souks and its focal point, the Djemma el Fna.

OUIRGANE

The High Atlas Mountains are dominated by some of North Africa's highest peaks and their breathtaking size towering above the Berber villages provides a backdrop for Ouirgane. Ouirgane and nearby Marigha are surrounded by almond blossom in early spring are a perfect place for easy hiking and relaxation in the pure mountain air, just an hour's drive from Marrakech.

ESSAOUIRA

Essaouira is a fascinating former Portuguese fishing port; its houses and shops in the medina are white-washed with blue doors and shutters. An expansive sandy beach is located next to the harbour and is shallow enough for safe bathing. Thanks to the ocean currents, Essaouira benefits from cool on-shore breezes and at the end of the morning don't miss the colourful and lively spectacle of the return of the fishing boats. The harbour is the best place to eat fish in the whole of Morocco – sit down at any stall and feast yourself on the freshest and most varied fish BBQ you will ever encounter.

RIADS

Riads are private houses, built around a central courtyard, whose outside walls are entirely closed; often converted into guesthouses or restaurants they are a symbol of the Moroccan art of fine living. We recommend staying in riads where the local staff are integral to the experience and all food and drink and many other materials involved with your stay and the building itself are all sourced from the local area. By staying in a small riad in the Medina you will encounter this way of life first-hand and how it changes throughout the day, a much more traditional experience than large, chain hotels.

Itinerary

Day 1 - arrive into Marrakech; private transfer directly to your accommodation.

Day 2 - a private half day guided tour of Marrakech's main historic sights, including the souks and the Djemma el Fna; afternoon - free time to relax or explore further.

Day 3 - Free day for optional extra sightseeing & activities, e.g. a cookery class, quad biking in the Palmeraie, a visit to the incredible Cascades of Ouzoud.
